Our first day off in 20 days. We all got a ride into Jackson, WY by Dan's sister and mother who drove up meet us in Moran, WY. On the way to Jackson we had a heard of buffalo crossing the road. I also took a pic of the antler arbor in town. It was good just to relax and play tourist today. Tomorrow we will start riding again. We will be heading towards Pinedale.

We rode from Flagg Ranch Resort the campsite to Moran, WY. We rode though the Grand Teton National Park., absolutely beautiful. We only rode 34 miles today. We are going to take a day off tomorrow and will resume the ride Sunday Morning.. You will see in the pictures Jackson Hole Lake and the hatchet resort where were staying in Moran, WY. Here are today's pics..

Day 19

Today we started out at about halfway down the Union Pacific Railway..what a beautiful the ride was today. Seeing the old railway and tunnel was very cool. I guess this used to be the Yellowstone railway and was closed 1977. The rails and wood where all torn out but it made a beautiful trail for us to ride. This section of the divide is about 30 miles total. I can say the first 19 miles of this section are very hard to ride. We got into Ashton and ate at the Squirrel Creek Ranch. Larry the owner made us all cheeseburger's and fries.. It was yummy! We then rode to Flagg Ranch Resort which is part of the Grand Tetons National park. Earlier we crossed the Idaho/Wyoming state line. We arrived at Flagg Ranch at 7:00pm and ate at the resort. I had the meatloaf and would highly recommend it.  We are camping at the Flagg Ranch Campsite. Today was 60 miles... Good to be in Wyoming and the Teton's so beautiful. We also had 3000 ft of elevation climbing today.

Day 18

We set out from Lakeview, MT at 9:40am. The outfitters made us a real cowboy breakfast of homemade biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and orange juice. Breakfast was soooo good! Nice ride today towards our 6th continental divide crossing. Which just happens to be the Montana/Idaho crossing at Red Rocks Pass elv: 7,120 we crossed over into Idaho at about 12:30pm. We continued on towards Mack's Inn and Island Park where we stopped for lunch at a subway.. Also got one to go for dinner at camp later. After lunch we rode towards Big Springs and onto an old railway road (Pacific Union Railway) the tracks are all removed but the gravel is very loose and hard to pedal in.. It's like riding you bike on the beach. We rode this for about 15 miles or so and the called it a day at 6:35 pm.. We rode 55.5 miles today and I set a personal goal my first 1,000 miles on the divide! And I did it in 18 days without a day off! What a day it was! Idaho is beautiful.  And we are just on the edge of Yellowstone and the Tetons.. Here are today's pics... Enjoy!

Day 17

We started our day at Ian's Cafe for breakfast. We left Lima, MT at about 9:45 am. We rode towards Lakeview which was 53 miles... Not a nice ride at all! Lots of pastures and cow pies.. Lucky for us lots of creeks along the way to cool off and get water. We arrived at our bunkhouse at 4:30pm . This place is an outfitters for horse back riding and camping trips for hunters. But they love to take in divide riders and feed us!  It's really nice!

Today we got up at camp with no water! We just about ran out exempt for I bottle.. We started out from camp and had to only ride about 3 miles to find a steam to pump from (water filer). We actually do this process about 2 to 3 times a day. From our roadside campsite we rode to Lima, MT. Another 58 miles today. Total miles to date 890 miles! Should be riding out Montana tomorrow or the next day. A lot of our riding today looked very dry and dusty.. Oh yeah hot, hot, hot!

Day 15

Today we left Wise River and headed for a campsite about 30 miles pass Polarais, MT.. But we found out when we got there the campsite was flooded from the storm that we missed coming into Helena.. So we decided to press on.. Well our 55 mile day ended up being a 80 mile day.. I'm tired! We found a place to camp next to a barb wire fence and cow pies.. We thought we could get water from the creek below us but it was not for drinking??? Even with a water filter.. So we were careful not to use to much water for dinner and save a bit for the ride in the morning.. We will try to stop at one of the farms close by and get water? Today was long and hard.. Not much climbing but really hot. The landscape has really changed ever since we left Wise river. No more pine trees all I see now is sage bush and weeds.. A few trees in the distance and lots of cows and farms. Not my favorite ride at all. The start of the third week was a tough one! Here is the pics from our day.

Day 14

Today we rode from Butte to Wise River just about 53 miles. The ride today was amazing lots if huge rocks and beautiful views. Also again one if the toughest sections yet. We had a single track uphill that I could hardly walk up.. This is fleecers pass and the other side was just as worst going down hill.  This section between Butte and Wise River will test your MTB skills.. We stated our ride late out of Butte at 11am. We arrived very tired into Wise River at 8:20pm. We ate at the Wise River Club. We were also able to get rooms for the night. So far to date our mileage is 750 miles! Less than 2000 to go..,

Today we rode from our campsite which was about 37 miles from Butte, MT. Today I dedicate this ride to my girlfriend Kaleo who I miss soooo much. I decided to take pics of all the mountain flowers I could find on my ride. I know how much she likes flowers. Enjoy sweetheart! We arrived into Butte early and had all the bikes Seviced at the Outdoorsman. Rob Leipheimer the owner takes really good care of all divide riders. We are staying at the Days inn which by the way is attached and owned by Rob & Levi's dad.. What a great convenience for us.

Day 12

Helena to somewhere about 1/2 way to Butte, MT. Camping near a creek tonight. :) Our ride today was only 33 miles but with 5300 ft of climbing.. We climbed all day and hit one of the toughest sections at about 7000 ft. This section was full of rocks and trees and steep it was an area you had to push your bike. This was about 3 miles but took forever to get it done.. We then found ourselves going down.. Yippie first time all day. We started our ride today at 9:30 and ended at 6:30 pm. It was by far the hardest part yet! Mileage to date is 662 miles! Feeling great! Here is the pics of the day.
